With 2012 fast approaching FLW opens with the EverStart event on the (Big O) Lake Okeechobee Fl. During this event the fish will be in a pre spawn and spawn mode, with grass beds being the main target areas along with the ditches that lead to them. Popular techniques include punching grass mats, casting frogs, swim baits, and spinnerbaits. These techniques can produce huge 5 fish limits, some over 30lbs. Site fishing will also play a major part in hooking up with these giants. Lures such as the Bed Bug by Garneau Baits matched up with an ABU Garcia 7"3 Vendetta med heavy rod and the Revo 7:1 ratio reel can produce some great catches. The Garneau Buzz Frog offers great top water action.
