The City of Timmins put the docks in at the boat launch just in time for the long weekend and opening day of Walleye. The Mattagami River runs along the main drag on Riverside Drive through the city. What makes this a great location is not only because of the boat launchs, there is also a bend in the river which has a deep scour hole in it. The Mountjoy River flows into the river near one set of docks and the city creek which also has a rock shoal extends into the river from the the other set of docks. This could mean only one thing, lots of fish being caught off of these docks. The City has also made one of dock ramps a handicap assessable ramp to make sure that everyone can enjoy the river. The river has Walleye, Pike, Smallmouth Bass, Perch, Rock Bass, Ling and Sturgeon which all can be caught off these docks. If you are ever up this way either visiting or just passing through make sure to come down to the docks and enjoy them. Toss a line in and try your luck as you never know what you may catch. I have been a Timmins resident all my life , this is a secret which has been kept by many generations now you know as I know "Timmins is the Ultimate Fishing Town".
