I talked about adding a spoon to a bottom bouncer or in-line weight for added flash when the water color changes and gets dirty. While here is something that I have done for quite awhile to my crankbaits when this happens also. We all know about side flash and vibration that a crankbait gives off. To give the fish a better chance at seeing it coming it's way in dirty water I like to add a piece of Salom or prism tape to the bill of the crankbait. By adding this to the bill you have now added some flash that will flash as the crankbait moves side to side. This now allows the fish to see your crankbait coming its way before it gets there by seeing the flash from the bill. The best thing about using this tape is that you can experiment with different colors of tape by just pulling off the one you had added at first and add a new color to the bill. When the water clears up you can remove the tape from the bill and go back to the original bill or play some more with the tape. By the way, don't forget your scissors to cut your tape. Over the years this has helped me to put some extra fish in the live well when things got dirty.
