Fall Frog in full swing - BASS ON

Well it's that time of year and the season has started to change in the North. With cooler day's and the leaves on the trees already turning for me it is Frog time...I love nothing better when I am fishing than a blow up on a top water lure, The Frog is my weapon of choice. I use Snag Proof frogs like it was second nature, tough, dependable, sharp hooks and has with stood many of test in bass fishing and wouldn't  have it any other way. Over the past few weeks the frog bite has picked up and has shown to be very deadly on a late afternoon bite for both Large mouth and small mouth bass. Using my frogs on both river systems and lakes casting it to the shore line and retrieving to deep water has been the key along with targeting isolated patches of Lilly pads and locations that some anglers just call slop. The photo above shows just one location that has been very productive with the frog, This kind of spot holds many treasures for a bass angler so next  time you see a spot like this don't pass it up. Tournament anglers would be the first people to tell you that many of tournaments have been won in places like this at certain times of the year, A lot of weekend anglers wouldn't cast here do to the fact you could lose a lure. But don't pass it up, get you a Snag Proof frog from your local tackle store and put it in your tackle box, also be sure to use braid fishing line if fishing a spot like this, it will play a key factor in getting that trophy bass out of the slop. Most of the time just fishing for the fun of it I use 35lb braid from McCoy Fishing Line and if in a tournament I have used  up to 65lb, that choice is yours to make but McCoy braid is a great place to start and affordable and is a major tool in fishing and catching fish. Also another idea for you to try in open water is using your frog as a drop shot. YES, I said drop shot, My good friend Mr Gil Johnson and Snag Proof staff member told me about this over a year ago and has done much study on this and also does public speaking on it at bass pro shops and other places. Best frog that I use for this presentation is the Snag Proof bleeding frog with the red hooks, To me it is just the right size for the drop shot. Do everything normal as you would any other drop shot rig but instead of a hook attach your frog and hang on, After all when a frog leaves the shore line or jumps off the pads where does he go?? That's right under the water in drop shot territory, so give it a try..  But what ever your choice of lure or your favorite type of fishing maybe just have fun and get out and fish and try a frog, I don't think you will be unhappy with the results during the right time of the year.
