The LBAA Announces the Red River Final Results

By Mark Bilbrey Sept 14 2013 SHREVEPORT-BOSSIER CITY, La. – The Lady Bass Anglers Association Day 2 Finals Saturday September 14, 2013 wrapped up the 4th and final stop on the LBAA Women's Pro Tour. As the ladies faced the challenges of the Red River in Shreveport, Louisiana, their skills and equipment was put to the test as the anglers faced extreme temperatures, lower unit failures, and livewell malfunctions. The ladies endured all the ups and downs without a complaint making the last stop on the 2013 tour an awesome event. The champion of the event on the boater side was Danielle McRae with a two day limit of 10 bass weighing in with a total of 27.75 lbs. With her parents and brother at the Red River to cheer her on, Danielle owned both days. “I want to thank my sponsors, V&M Cyclone Baits, Legend Boats, Mercury, Leopard Lighting, Bass Boat Saver, and Pixel Town, and family and friends for love and support to help me get this win, what a great feeling.” Danielle said with a broken voice and tearful eyes as she became overwhelmed with emotion as the spoke to the crown that had gathered at the Red River South Marina for the final day weigh in. When asked to reveal her “secrets” for such an impressive two day limit Danielle did not hesitate to say, “All my bass were caught on V&M Cyclone Baits Swamp Hog Green Pumpkin.” And she showed the bent Gamakatsu hook that had been bent in battle while bringing her kicker bass out of the massive lily pads of the Red River. Finishing the event in 2^nd was Pam Ridgle with a two day limit of 10 fish weighing 16.67 lbs. Angler Teri Cindric finished up in 3^rd also with 10 bass with a total weight of 13.72 lbs. 4^th place went to Juanita Robinson who brought 9 bass to the scales after the two day rumble in the Red River totaling 12.81 lbs. Rounding out the top 5 was Monica Altman who ended finishing the event bringing 8 bass to the scales with a total of 11.94 lbs. On the Co-Anglers side, Alisa Johnson took 1^st place with 3 impressive bass weighing in at 12.23 lbs. which included the Day 2 big bass at 7.75 lbs.  In 2^nd place was Kim Martin with a two day limit of 6 fish totaling 9.50 lbs. In 3^rd place was Noella McLauren with 6 bass weighing 9.34 lbs. finishing in 4^th was new comer Susie Bowden with a 6 bass limit weighing 9.09 lbs. and completing the top 5 co-anglers was Diana Uebelhack who brought 4 big bass to the scales in two days totaling a weight of 8.21lbs. As the points were tallied, Pam Martin-Wells was announced to be the 2013 LBAA Angler of the Year! Pam after experiencing lower unit issues finished Day two in a borrowed boat to bring in enough bass to hold the lead for AOY.  “It's been an awesome year!” was the quote Wells gave after the event. Both Kim Bain-Moore and Lisa Johnson were close behind Wells in the season long race for the AOY title. The lineup was announced for the ladies who had qualified for the LBAA Classic while will be held in October at Lake Ray Hubbard in Garland, Texas. An upcoming announcement will list the rankings of those ladies who have worked so hard this year to compete in the classic. The 2013 season has been one that will never be forgotten by the ladies of the LBAA. The experiences on and off the water as they have witnessed the organization grow has been filled with fun and excitement. Despite weather or mechanical issues the ladies have formed a bond in a friendly but fierce competitive environment. The have made their statement, “Move Over Boys” loud and clear as they have fished in some of the best fisheries in North America under some extreme conditions this year. And they have accomplished much in the sport for themselves, their sponsors and their families along the way. 2014 promises even more growth and competition as ladies across the country watch these pioneers of lady bass fishing achieve so much in their sport.
