Brute 25 Quart Cooler Review

Yeti, Engel, Orca, Frostbite, Grizzly, Canyon, Icey-Tek and Brute just to name a few. But in my opinion only one name sticks out above the rest. You’re probably thinking, YETI, but I feel it is “BRUTE”. Because it is an American made product and they don’t just headquarter in America and then manufacture it in Asia. No, they are headquartered and manufactured right here in the good old U.S.A. Also, measuring internally 12.5 x 11.5 x 10.75 this cooler is a true 50 quarts. That means the actual storage in the cooler is 50 quarts giving a “True to Size” cooler compared to some of the competition that confuses you by giving you a model number confusing you with their true capacity. When you look at construction of these coolers BRUTE utilizes a process called roto-molding which makes BRUTE’s ice chests seamless and the one-piece construction allows for serious abuse and building a lifetime of memories. Roto-molded is a process of a mold that allows for seamless construction then the cooler is injected with the insulation and rotated to fill every nook and cranny leaving the customer with a well-insulated and rugged cooler. No seams means nothing coming apart at the seams and average thickness of insulation is just over 2” thick on sizes larger than the 25qt where on the 25 qt they are 1-5/8” thick. Comparing the 2” to other brands that average just below 2”. Does this make a huge difference probably not a “huge” difference but more insulation does mean longer ice time. Unlike my average coolers where I needed to put ice in almost daily when camping. I found that my 25 quart after putting freezer ice in at 5 p.m. on a Friday evening and not until Monday night had it all disappeared. Understand the 25 quart is a weekend or short trip designed cooler unlike the line-up of coolers after this size that will keep ice for a true week. Another awesome feature are the integrated hinges that are molded as part of the cooler. With a rod running through them that is protected from the elements leaving you a lifetime of openings. I know too often my average coolers would not open well and I would need to use one hand to hold the cooler and one to open it. I have some the lid just plain wore out and I only could sit the lid on top and thank God for bungee cords to keep it shut or the one cooler that squeaks so loud that every camper and animal in the area knows your reaching in for a goodie. The heavy duty rubber latches and cantilever hinge system really work well and snap shut causing the rubber gasket located in the 2” thick lid to make a great water tight seal when latched. Mine have not popped off or caught on anything to cause them to pop open. The anti-skid rubber feet work great to keep from sliding around on a boat deck or the deck of my kayak and then the tie down slots work great with my straps to keep it secured to my kayak while out fishing or just paddling. The rope on the sides make it easy to grab and carry along with the over-sized grab rails on the side. One of the many features I was drawn to with this cooler. With all this said do these coolers warrant their high price tags? I always feel things could be cheaper but I have to say yes they do. Why? When you factor in the construction and the fact you’re not buying a new cooler every other year at $50.00 a crack. When you factor in ice savings over a long period of time. Yes, you have to look at that also. You buy one cooler and the opportunity to not only pass it down but, all the memories that go with it. I remember many a times my dad throwing out a cooler and saying man that cooler has been through a lot and really came in handy when we went camping here or there. This was a cooler that may have only been a couple years old and he was already having to get rid of it. So, why not invest in a cooler that will last a lifetime and on top of that BRUTE’s coolers cost on the average less than most of their competitors. Overall, I was a skeptic - overrated and overpriced coolers. I am no longer a skeptic and no, BRUTE did not give me a cooler, I purchased it. After weighing out the factors listed above and doing my research and reading yes, other reviews, I feel I have made a choice that will be with me far past after I leave this earth.BRUTE cooler sizes come in the following:
The BRUTE Soft-Pak 25 quart 50 quart 75 quart 100 and 150 quart
