Going Cove(rt) for Late Summer, Early Fall Bass

Few things can light up the eyes of a bass fisherman more than the act of pulling a bass boat into a quiet, untouched cove on a favored bass lake.

Whether the cove features unseen structural features hiding beneath the water's edge; easily noted cover like boat docks, stumps, lily pads and grassy vegetation; or is nothing more than an oasis sitting off to the side of a boat and personal watercraft filled main lake body, coves are highly inviting to a bass angler looking for a quiet place to wet a line.

The only problem for a summertime angler when the topic of coves is brought up at the marina coffee shop is that for the most part, bass simply aren't in such spots on a lake or a reservoir when the heat is really on.

But there are a few exceptions to that hot weather rule of thumb, mind you, especially as summertime gets ready to transition into fall in the next several weeks.
