The Kilpatrick Flyfishers
As I've mentioned earlier, I'm an avid fly fisher and am a member of the Kilpatrick Flyfishers, a fly fishing club base out of Saskatoon. I say based out of, as we have members around the province. Fly fishing seems to be somewhat of a secret in Saskatchewan. I don't know how many times I get asked "where do you fly fish around here" and "what do you fly fish for". The answer is quite simple - Anywhere there is water and for anything with fins. The Kilpatrick Flyfishers (KFF) have been in existence for 25 years now, and actually spawned a daughter club, the Northern Waters Flyfishers, based out of Prince Albert, about an hour and a half north of Saskatoon.
The KFF is dedicated to the following:
- Education of techniques and the appeal of Fly Fishing
- Promoting sustainability and enhancement of the sport fishery in Saskatchewan
- Promotion of "Catch and Release" as a method of sustainability of fish stock.
- Commaraderie between our members, including club "fishouts" and social events.
Speaking of social events, The KFF annual banquet is coming up next weekend. I hope to have a few pictures to share in my next blog.
