We,re Lost Lake

 We started late but headed up Browns Mountain anyway to fish Vameys Lake and after driving for what felt like forever we found it. Now it wasn?t as big as I thought and we didn?t hook anything. There are two camps on this lake and it was pretty private and quite up there at one time, but now they are putting a wind farm up there, ruining their spot. Found out later that this lake is good when the ice comes off but not in July.

 We left there and headed to find another spot. We checked out the West River and then while fishing a part of a river we were not too sure off, I hooked into a nice fish on my first cast but it came off. George asked what I was using and after telling him he reminds me of a notice we glanced at saying how to fish this area. Apparently you can?t use a treble hook, only flies or single hook lures. Wow some glad I didn?t land that fish, never know how much trouble a guy could have gotten into.
  We left there and head up to a small lake that I found a map. We were very pleased when we found it; there wasn?t much sign of heavy fishing and the trout were feeding well.

 This was a pretty little lake and we had a great evening of fishing. George did really well because he had his fly rod with him and he let me know that they were going for the fly.

 We stayed till dark and headed home with the idea of returning. My fishing partner calls this Lost Lake but I think it should be called We,re Lost Lake since we didn?t have a clue where we were.
 Now there were lessons learned on this trip, if you can check out the lake your thinking about fishing ahead of time to find out if it is an early or late fishing lake. I will take along my fly rod next time so I can enjoy some of the better action.  If you come across a fishing spot that is posted with how to fish it and you do not know the area their telling you about, leave to save yourself some grief later. And speaking of grief, you should make sure your cell phone is charged so you can call the wife and tell her that you wouldn?t be home till, as she sweetly told me ?A quarter to @%#$ 11:00?. She had everybody worried, sorry it will not happen again but when you?re fishing and their hitting good you anglers know it?s hard to force yourself to leave, even harder when your partner who?s driving is doing really well.
