I was having problems trying to find the right sunglasses for fishing that cover all my needs, like looks, safety, vision, comfort, polarization etc. Well that’s come to an end when I was asked to try out the new Habervision Belize Bi-Focals. http://www.habervision.com/product/belizebifocal.aspx
When I first received these glasses I liked the look of them, they have a stylish look and a wide frame which helps block out sunlight from the sides. Haber’s frame is made from virtually unbreakable Trilon. I asked my consultant; the wife said they look good on me, nuff said.
I have used these glasses on a couple of fishing trips so far and found them every comfortable, The Haber Rose color allows for incredible perception in a wide variety of conditions from overcast to bright light. They have 100% polarization and UV blocking. Images are sharp and clear in the water and they stop that glare that blinds you and makes your eyes sore and tired after long day fishing, no soreness above my ears or on my nose. Bonus, comfortable glasses that look good.
As for safety they have Carbolite polymer lenses that have three times the impact resistance of glass, so they are virtually indestructible. This is something very important, too often you hear about some poor angler loosing an eye to a hook, weight, or rod tip. You don’t have to worry about your fishing buddy accidentally setting on them in the boat either.
Now what really makes me like these glasses is the fact that they have bifocals and they are on the top of the lens instead of the bottom. When wade fishing like I do the ability to look downward with bifocals on and not feel disoriented when your vision changes is a must. The bifocals on the top are the answer, I feel comfortable in the water. Also helps me by not having to carry around reading glasses which I’m always losing or breaking.
I found them a great help when Fly Fishing, the 2.50 power bifocals come in handy for tying on those leaders, small flies, and taking out wind knots. They are a must for untangling those nasty treble hooks in nets.
A smaller size in the chose of magnification would be useful to have and it takes a little time to get use to the bifocals on the top but I have to say that the Habervision Belize Carbolite 2.5 bi-focal sunglasses are the answer for all purpose fishing.
