Birthday Fishing At Nickle Plate
Last month I had the great opportunity to spend some quality time with my dad out at Nickle Plate Lake near Penticton.
We went out for an over-nighter and had a blast! We took the Porta-Bote (folding boat, I highly recommend buying!) and a little trolling motor out with us, this allowed us to get out to some of the very large drop offs that the lake has. After one day off fishing off the boat and getting some fairly good sized fish we headed back to camp to cook them up, and I must say, those might have been THE BEST tasting Rainbow Trout that I've ever had!
Although it was pretty cold out that night I was quite comfortable, I have recently purchased a Hennessy Hammock which very well may be the coolest tent you can buy! (I'll leave a link to it below) And i will most likely do a review later on.
Next day was spent mostly casting from shore, which we found to be much better than fishing from the boat! We had been using one of our favorite lures, the Blue Fox (again I will leave a link below) and we were catching some fairly decent sized fish! The biggest being around 10 inches.
I have to say it was the best fishing trips I've been on and it was a ton of fun! If you're looking for a place to take the family for the weekend and be sure that you'll have fun I would definitely recommend Nickle Plate Lake! (just make sure you have good 4x4!)
