With a snap-on bell:
1. Slip the bell onto the fishing line, about 6 inches above the hook.
2. Pinch the snap closed to secure the bell in place.
With a tie-on bell:
1. Cut a piece of monofilament line or fishing line about 6 inches long.
2. Thread the monofilament line through the bell.
3. Tie the monofilament line to the fishing rod, just above the reel.
4. Trim any excess monofilament line.
Additional tips:
* The rod bell should be placed in a location where it is easy to hear, but it should not interfere with the casting or retrieving of the line.
* If you are using a spinning reel, you can place the rod bell on the bail arm.
* If you are using a baitcasting reel, you can place the rod bell on the reel spool.
* You can also purchase rod bells that attach to the fishing rod with a rubber band or velcro strap.
