Here Is A Bass Fishing Technique That I Use
I have been bass fishing now since I was 15 years old. I have tried so many different ways to bass fish and so many different lures. All have produced really good bass fishing for me and my sons. For me though, ole reliable is the plastic worming I usually Texas rig it.
When you were using a plastic worm with no weight, have you noticed sometimes that it just doesn't go as far as you want it to? I had an ole dude in Arkansas tell me this technique years ago and it still works today great. I believe it is because not to many fishermen use this technique with plastic worms.
This is a great technique that is used while walking or wading your favorite pond or lake. You can use this technique in a boat but you can go where ever you want if you're in a boat. So you really don't have to toss your plastic worm like you have to when you're on the bank. http://www.dalesfishinginfo.com
What I do is I take a little round bobber I put it about 3 feet above the plastic worm with no weight. Because with no weight the plastic worm just floats down giving a bass more time to see it. Plus I use a round bobber that's about 1 inch in size. You don't want one that is to big.
A 1 inch bobber will give you the weight you need to get more distance with your plastic worm. So you have it around 3 feet from the worm. This is great above weed lines, you cast your line out to the weed lines and when it hits wait about 15 seconds. Then pick up your pole to move the bobber about 3 feet. When this is done the plastic worm comes up to the top and when you stop the bobber the worm floats down again.
Usually the bass will slam it when you stop and the worm is floating down. Having the bobber will also give you a heads up when the bass takes your plastic worm. Sometimes it will just start taking off to one side or the other. But then, sometimes the bass hits it so hard that it just explodes out of the water. That is a great site to see when that ole bass comes busting out of the water.
This is a great way to start out a young fishermen with a plastic worm. They can cast it and also are able to see when the bobber takes off. This way a young person can hone their skills around setting the hook on ole Mr. Largemouth. But do not under estimate this bass fishing technique. It has proven to be one heck of a fishing tool in my bag of tricks. http://www.dalesfishinginfo.com
The next time you go out try it. You will see that this works as great as I say it does. There have been times when the bass were hitting like crazy, they would pop the bobber first. Then they would slam the plastic worm, because it was floating behind the dinner they missed. Talk about a heads up for you.
Until Next Time,
JDD
