The ocean sunfish, or mola mola, lays the most eggs of any fish. Mola mola females produce an estimated 300 million eggs at a time, making it one of the most prolific egg-layers in the animal kingdom. These eggs are released into the open water and are incredibly small, measuring less than 1 mm in diameter.
