How To Attach Kayak Fishing Rod Holders

If you want to use a kayak more effectively in fishing calmer waters then you should really consider learning how to attach kayak fishing rod holders. 1. Sit in your kayak, either while you are at home or in the garage, and simulate the movement of your arms to find the most convenient location for your mounts. Before drilling you should visualize the direction your lines will be heading so you can manage your paddle and rod movements effectively. The goal is to eliminate aggravation, of course. 2. Place small pieces of masking tape over the points where you will drill holes. Mark these holes on the pieces of tape with your permanent marker. 3. Drill straight through the deck of your kayak. Place the base over the drilled holes. Reach under the deck and attach the flat washers and tighten the nuts for each hole. Also you will need to match the appropriate size screwdriver before you can install those types of screws.
   
4. Hand tighten the nuts and check whether your base is sitting flat and flush against the deck. Tighten the nuts with the wrench until snug.
   
5. Attach the main part of the mount per individual product instructions. Mounts come in many varieties so you need to consult with the instructions before assembling it to the base.
   
6. Use the marine sealant to make a water-proof seal around the head of each bolt. This should keep the entire exterior of your craft water tight.

Once the sealant has properly dried you are ready to test your craft in actual fishing situations.
