SPRO Tournament - Lets Look Back
With the SPRO frog only tournament in the rear window and our insistence that we make it better every year I thought it would be good timing to self analysis the tournament; let抯 look at what we can improve on. I must first say that every good company critiques their business and it should be no different that we self expose ours.
The first thing I must say is we had a great tournament, with nearly 300 entries the tournament went off with very few hiccups and the results for a tough frog bite were tremendous. We could have not asked for better results from the fisherman, the staff and the sponsors, but as always we do need to improve some things to make it better for 2015!
It is also true that not all those that wanted to fish got the opportunity because of one thing or another, but one thing is for sure no fisherman were denied entry into the tournament for fishing to late in the day on Friday the 5th, the day before the tournament. That is by far a bogus rumor and should be discarded as it is absolutely not true.
The next thing is the idea of picking your flight had so-so results; the intention was to get everyone to enter the tournament early so we could get thru the check in process quickly on Friday night; that did not happen. There we various reasons; but still many fisherman waited until the last day or the morning before to enter making it difficult for the process to shape the way we envisioned it, and we will change it. We certainly needed to stream line the check-in process that will hopefully be remedied next year. No matter how hard we tried to get everyone to read the pre-registration information it just did not happen and the endless amount of questions that were already posted became issues. Like people not picking their preferred time to fish, early middle or late on their pre-registration information, many just did not do it and it delayed the process. However we still have some process issues and it is our intent to fix it. It is also true that the logistics of the State Park ramp caused us some unexpected bottle neck especially for those coming in by boat; we will also refine this!
We are striving for excellence, and that means a couple of things, we always want to be creative, and add something different every year to make it better. With the seasonal weather being different every year we need to move the tournament too later in September or early October to improve the chances at some bigger fish being caught as well as improve some of the processes. That we will also do, and we look forward to making it better in 2015!
