A Big Thanks to the Scottsboro Police Department
揟he City of Scottsboro has done great work improving City Park ?new parking, new docks, wifi, it抯 a very nice facility for all to use. Certainly parking our rigs and leaving them unattended brings its own set of risks.?Risks that can be minimized and we all can play a part in protecting while launching.
Just recently a local fisherman pulled up to the newly and improved Scottsboro City Ramp while putting his boat in he noticed a car that was suspiciously parked in the boat trailer parking area; being aware of the past vandalism in the area over the years he notified the police. His awareness and due diligence to keep these areas safe was the key to stopping, arresting, and preventing more problems for some other抯 parked at the ramp. The police department quickly responded to his call, noticed the suspect抯 car leaving as they got wind of them coming and arrested the individuals not only for theft of property but they apparently were warrants out for their arrests. Had the Scottsboro Police not responded with quick and decisive actions these guys would have gotten away? A shout out to Scottsboro Police for being so diligent in protecting the local boat ramps, and a thanks for not only catching these guys but for texting back to the individual who called to let him know they successfully apprehended the suspects. This immediate feedback from the police to the person calling to report the issue was very strong indication of their commitment to keeping our local boat ramps free of vandalism!
The commitment from our local police is only as strong as those of us who frequent these boat ramps on a daily basis; if this gentleman had not called 911 and reported the suspicious activity this may or may not have been prevented. This is also a shout out to all of us, if something seems wrong when you pull up to a ramp than that is a good sign that there probably is a problem. If we all do our part, and call the police when we see possible problems at these ramps, if something looks wrong when you pull up to a ramp it probably is; we can more than likely eliminate these ramp thefts. Get involved do your part be the eyes and ears for all at the ramps, don抰 challenge the individuals when you see a problem, but report suspicious activity so the police can respond!
