This Could be a November to Remember on Guntersville
All signs are pointing to November shaping up as an exciting time to be fishing on Lake Guntersville; we struggled some from September through mid October. Look out though as November is coming in like a storm; the fish are getting real aggressive and some typical fall patterns are shaping up to be great.
First and foremost the top water buzz bait bite is showing up around scattered under water grass; when they hit they are aggressive and just ripping your bait from the water. There are some very typical areas that have always been successful fishing buzz baits; find deep points of grass, find boat docks with hidden grass and cut corners with your buzz baits you will get slammed! I like Secret Weapons buzz baits with red skirts and gold blades; their noisy and colored specifically for Guntersville.
The square bill crank bait is always dangerous in this time period, as it is a bait that you can work around cover and grass; you can float it up off of tree limbs working around lay downs and rock. The best fall presentation on Guntersville is to work precisely down to the grass when it hangs on the grass, rip it upward creating a reaction bite as it snaps out of the grass cover. Spro makes a variety of square bills to cover different depths and they have a great wobble and catch fish. The other important point of fishing square bills is they cover a lot of territory; their fish finders and become great search baits for active November fishing.
Swim baits have been fore ever more a bait that covers water, its wobble is dangerous and some- what irresistible and should put big stringers of bass in your boat! Cover the back sides of islands, ledges along with points of grass and green vegetation. Bass will tend to move off the dying vegetation this time of year so find the green stuff and cover different depths with your swim bait. I promise you this will be a November to remember!
