The Fishing Tournament of All Tournaments
The Tournament of All Tournaments
On September 7 2013 Lake Guntersville hosted the biggest and best 5 fish amateur tournament we have seen in many years! It not only was a great forum for fishing but it was a meeting of quality amateur fisherman finding ways to catch big sacks of fish on a frog only basis. A challenge of man抯 frog fishing skills against the elements!
Creativity was abundant; fishermen took to the waters to match their wits on a high pressured lake that has been beat up from tournament after tournament not counting the frog only tournament a month earlier. When amateurs take to the water in a tournament they assume many things, and most of the time they know that someone makes money off the entry fees and that the fishermen never get a chance to recoup all the dollars paid in.
Not the case as the SPRO frog only tournament paid back every dollar to the fishermen; it paid down to 40 plus places and had more give away products in value than the participants paid in entry fees! With great work from the SPRO Tournament Director Jim Leary and staff every participant received free, frogs, shirts, hats and more! Plus the addition of give-away products from Duckett rods, T&H Marine, Yamaha Motors and tackle from Punisher Lures, Tight-Line jigs, and Mister Twister. Money paid out to big bass participants; beat the pro participants fishing against the likes of FLW fisherman Troy Morrow and BASS Elite fisherman Dean Rojas and boat manufacturers like Pheonix, Bass Cat, and Skeeter paying boat owners money to the winner!
The good news is next year will be even bigger and better, as early plans are already being made to accommodate 300 or more teams of participants as this-years 238 teams of participants was just a start. The SPRO tournament filled up hotels, restaurants, tackle stores and more, with reviews from participants being off the wall with compliments; next year it will bring even more as the give-away items alone will even be better, not counting the fact that the tournament will become a nationwide event with similar SPRO Tournaments staged throughout the country.
