2004 Tackle Review - PART FOUR
New Crawfish Bait is Excellent.. Check out the rigging which makes it work in a very lifelike manner. I love these new baits and the Fishin.com Team will be trying them out in Canada in September.
Well It took a while but I have found my NEW favorite soft plastic bait. The new Baits While You Wait Company has perfected the scented tube. I fished these at Barren River Reservoir and I could REALLY get fish to come to the boat with gentle pressure. I had heard folks talk about this but never seen it happen myself. I used the Road Kill Camo colored bait which is very familiar to many who read the Kentucky Lake Report and other reports.
Terrific baits and the fish HOLD on.
Below are some good jigs sent to me from JP Jigs.
I have always wanted light leaded jigs with large hooks, but for some reason not a lot of companies make this kind of hook with a light amount of weight. Below are some hooks I tried in Canada on Tubes. I liked the resulting slower fall to the bottom and the quality of the hooks
From JP about his worms..
I can do hook sizes up to 6/0 in most of the smaller weight sizes like 1/8.SPOTGETTER one word and I can do them in a 2/0, 3/0,4/0,5/0 in the 1/8, 3/16 or 1/4. This one is great for tubes, finnesse worms and grubs. DOCKSLINGER is great with Hula Grubs, regular grubs and finesse worms to pitch under docks or brush. The FLUKESLINGER is for Super Flukes, Trick Worms, Senko type baits. The Drop Shots is the Hot new fishing technique that has taken the WEST by storm, a couple tournament were won with them and then they became the latest craze sweeping across the country.
This hook is called the Dockslinger
It is used on worms and grubs and makes it easier to hook the worm up and it holds a bit better when really slinging that bait up under cover.
