2004 Tackle Review - PART ONE
Another year is almost gone and already new products are showing up on the market for next years fishing season. We are also going to review products which have been around for a while as the makers send them in to be reviewed.
ELECTRONICS
Understanding Sonar is a new DVD out that explains how to use Sonar and GPS to help you find more fish. It is explained by Mike Del Visco who is a Touring Pro and very knowledgeable on the subject.
TACKLE ACCESSORIES
Carolina Lunker Sauce - I found this product at the Jim Strader Hunting and Fishing Expo here in Louisville, Kentucky.
This unique product holds scents for hours when they are put on a plastic or a hair bait. It will not wash off for hours and takes very little to make it effective.
Comes in Garlic, Shad, Menhaddend Shad, and Crawfish.
I watched this bait scent formula for quite a while on Thursday before the show started. A small amount placed in a bottle on the counter did not seperate and float like a similar product. Matter of fact Friday Morning I was there long before most and over nite the solution stayed dispersed in the bottle of water. Ralph Sandfer one of our reporters on Dale Hollow Lake is going to try the product as is our reporter on Green River Lake. I Hope to have a field report on this solution in the near future.
The dial/a/depth bobber .. This bobber will allow you to fish a bait at any depth from 1 foot to 90 feet. It has a unique system of measuring the depth that will let you set the bobber and fish the depth you want to fish regardless of the depth and at the same time not have to worrry about the bobber locking in in the wrong spot so you cant reel in the line.
Made by Dial/A/Depth Website has a number of suggestions on how to use the Dial A Depth Fishing Float.
Go Get It
When I first saw the Go-Get-It, I was a little skeptical because I was not a fan of the lure retrievers I had tried in the past. Most were either too awkward to use, too time consuming or just simply did not work. After examining the actual concept of how the Go-Get-It was supposed to work, I decided to give it a shot. After the first use, I know this retriever was a tool like no other.
As a tournament angler, there are several things that are important in the products I use. Quality abd ease if use are probably two of the most importan. The Go-Get-It takes both aspects to a whole new level. The quality of the product is excellent and I dont't think it woucl get any easier to use. You simply extend the Go-Get-It to the desired length, place the line under the pin, reach down and pull your lure to safety.
Compact size and length make the unit easy to store. My unit paid for itself after only 3 uses. One unit can reach to 15 feet deep and the other to 18 foot deep.
