This matches up nicely behind popular four-cylinder cars like the Nissan Dualis with 1400kg tow capacity, the Toyota Camry (1200kg), Subaru Forrester (1400kg) or the Mitsubishi Outlander (1600kg).
Yes, this boat is a real head-turner at the ramp. I think it's the very sporty appearance of this Stacer plus the smart, light grey colour scheme that gets people's attention. It sure looked good to us with its big white Evinrude on the transom and very nice graphics. Realistically, this new generation of tinnies are as visually appealing as any ‘glass boat. And this is probably another reason why we're seeing tinnies outsell the ‘glass boats in such big numbers.
Back to the test, we found the new 539 Nomad Fisher dead easy to slip off her custom Stacer alloy trailer. This unit is well worth a mention because it's such a nice looking trailer with C-Channel alloy framing, plastic mudguards, magnesium sports wheels and LED lights.

Without getting my feet wet, I hopped aboard, fired up the Evinrude first go and backed her off the trailer in a jiffy. Then with a quick pick-up of crew we were off gliding over the sun-lit waters of Pittwater. With three people aboard, including our art director Stephanie, the 539 Nomad Fisher felt a very roomy boat and gave us loads of room aboard. The boat feels very stable and this is good news if you are trolling.
The only real problem was the lack of seating made worse by the fact this boat had just the optional Fishbox helm seat. Normally, the Nomad has two slot-in pedestal seats, with five floor slots but not in this case. However, we quickly improvised with a soft gear bag used as a seat in front of the console. With the power of the big 115hp engine the Nomad really blasted out of the hole and was really flying in little time. And as we progressed up the bay she wasn't bothered by the choppy waters we encountered in the middle of the bay. Indeed, this is a hull that seems to like a fair bit of rough stuff and works best with a bit of bow-up trim skimming over rather than through the waves.
The 539 Nomad Fisher also corners very confidently at speed and you're really only limited by your nerve! I guess on those cold, unpleasant days you'll feel more vulnerable in this open boat, however, it's not a problem if you're a keen angler who has the latest weather gear over some lightweight, thermal clothing. Compared to her smaller siblings this boat is noticeably more stable at-rest and it was no problem with all three crew on one side.
Overall, the new EVO Advance hulls ride very well. You won't get the ride quality of big deep Vee craft but, hey, it's darn good for an inshore tinnie. I particularly liked the Nomad's centre steering setup.
