Who is harder to buy a gift for than a fisherman (or woman)? Not many people. Especially if you happen to know little or nothing about fishing. Finding a great fishing gift or gifts can be next to impossible. That's why I'm writing this article. As a fisherman myself, for more than 20 years, I might be able to shed some light on the subject, especially for those of you who know little or nothing about fishing, yet need to buy a great fishing gift for someone that you know.
The following gift would work for anyone from the novice angler to the person who is a seasoned veteran. All of these great fishing gift options have been by fishermen, so they aren't idea's that have just been pulled "out of thin air", so to speak. These gift options are the real deal, and most any angler would be happy to receive them.
- Books & Magazines - Most anglers like to read and learn about their favorite sport whenever they can't actually be out on the water fishing. That's why books and magazines are always a great fishing gift ideas. The most popular magazine choices would have to be Field and Stream and/or Outdoor Field. Both of these magazines provide wonderful fishing information, and most any angler would be more than grateful to have a subscription to either publication. If the person that you're looking to buy a great fishing gifts for likes to read, then any title by either Patrick McManus or John Gierarch would be a great choice. Both of these authors write some of the funniest and most entertaining fishing/outdoors books available. Books by either author constitute great fishing gifts.
- A Set Of Fishing Lures - Many top fishing lure manufacturers make set of fishing lures that make great fishing gifts. Basically these "sets" include 3-6 different fishing lures of varying sizes/colors so that the angler that you're buying them for can try them all out. Here's an example of these fishing lure sets. A set of fishing lures is one of those great fishing gifts that any angler will appreciate.
- Retractors - The word "retractors" may not seem right when we're discussing fishing gifts, but it should be. Retractors are a wonderful way to hold your lightweight fishing gear, such as nail clippers and/or hemostats. You might be thinking to yourself, "why would I need nail clippers while fishing?" To snip your line of course, rather than biting it. In any case, retractors are a great fishing gift for any angler, especially those anglers who like to wade and/or walk while fishing.
- Pre-Tied Gang Hooks - Pre tied gang hooks are a wonderful fishing gift, because it saves the person that you're buying for having to tie their gang hooks themselves (which can be a pain in the butt). Believe me, they will thank you for saving them from having to tie and package the hooks themselves. Not only that, but if they fish with live worms/bait, they will catch more fish as well. Pre tied gang hooks are a great fishing gift.
Any or all of the fishing gifts listed above would be a wonderful choice for most any angler. Not only that, but most of them are unique as well, so the person your getting them for will be surprised. And isn't that one of the things that giving a gift is about? In any case, the angler on your list will be happy with any or all of the gifts listed in this article.
