Where to Find Bass Fishing Lures

Of all the different pieces of equipment that are required for the sport of bass fishing, bass fishing lures are perhaps the most important of all. Without the proper bass fishing lures your line will not attract let alone hook a bass, and so you need to become more educated on this and make sure that you are making the right choices here.

The Selection

There are many options when it comes to bass fishing lures. Spinnerbaits are very commonly used here, and these are actually one of the most popular and adaptable bass fishing lures ever invented. These can be used in almost any type of water setting and at a variety of depths as well.

Crankbaits are also very popular bass fishing lures. They are available in a variety of colors and shapes and they can be used to cover any depth of water from the top to extremely deep. Keep in mind that generally, in clearer water you can use more natural colors on your lure and in stained water brighter colors so you will be able to spot them.

Artificial worms and minnows are also commonly used although they are not of the same quality and fall apart more easily. Although they are great at attracting fish it can be hard to hook them with these types of lures because the bass can so easily grab the food right from the hook, especially if it was not done correctly.

How to Choose

These are just a few of the many options, but the most difficult part is the decision of which lure you should choose for which occasion. Remember that bass have very hard jaws and they require some effort to set the hook effectively, so if you are just starting off you may want to use crankbaits as these are one of the easiest bass fishing lures to hook.

Find fat, short lures, and there are many crankbaits out there that include rattles, which will help the bass to find the bait. You may also want to look for glowing eyes on your crankbait, as predatory fish use the eyes to home in on where to strike the bait.

A good idea is to try to match your crankbaits to the colors of the baitfish in the water location that you are fishing in, so that it will blend in and you will be more likely to hook a fish.
