Saltwater Fishing Lure: Why It is Best to Have a Selection

Even if you have a saltwater fishing lure in particular that you are fond of and which you like to use because you think it is lucky or because it is heavier and can catch a larger fish, then that is fine, but just as with a saltwater fishing rod, you should have at least a few different selections on deck.

This is important for a few different reasons, but more than anything the reason that you want to have at least a few options for a saltwater fishing lure is because this way when you are out on the boat you are going to have a variety to choose from and are never going to have to stick with one.

Or imagine if you only had a few lures and they ended up breaking on you, what would you do then? The last thing that you would want is to have to come all the way in from your trip just to get yourself another saltwater fishing lure, and so it only makes sense that you would bring a few extra along.

Tips for Choosing a Lure

Trying to choose a saltwater fishing lure if you are new to fishing is almost like trying to find a needle in a haystack. It can seem impossible at times just because there are so many different sizes, styles, colors and makes of saltwater fishing lure to choose from. First and foremost it depends on what type of fish you are fishing for.

Buying colored lures is very important. The blue and black lures really should be avoided, because it is going to be so hard for the fish to see them, that you are not very likely to catch anything. Stick with the neon and other brightly colored lures so that they will stand out in the water and catch the attention of the fish.

One of the best tips that you will ever get is to choose your colored lures according to the weather and time of day. This is one of the most challenging things about fishing, is that there are so many different little details that you need to be concerned with. Checking the time and weather of when you are going to go fishing is going to help by having a huge impact on the type of lure that you should be bringing along on your fishing trip.
