Catch Bass In Deep Water

So you have set out to catch bass in deep water.  Now all you need to do is pick the right lure and you will be off to the races.  The first thing you should try is a spinner bait.  You need to determine how active the fish are being on this day.  If they arent being very active then you may want to try and use a slow retrieve to catch the deep water bass.

As you may know the spinner bait attracts the bass by sending off a vibration.  When using the spinner bait you want to use one with more then one blade.  Also you should be fishing starting in shallow water and working your way to the deep.  If you use smaller blades on the spinner bait you should be able to fish deeper.  The idea weight on a spinner bait for deep water is three quarters to am ounce.

So what can spimmer baits do if we do decide to use them to catch bass out of the deeper water?

When using the spinner bait you will be able to get the attention of the bass from much farther away.  Most other lures wouldnt be able to do this nearly as well as a spinner bait.  Since it will draw out bass it only makes sense that with the spinner bait we will be able to find the fish much faster then other lures.  Another great thing about a spinner bait is it can represent more bait fish then anything else out there.

The best all round rod to use when trying to fish bass in deep water is a six and a half foot rod.  This is a good medium rod that can be used for many different applications.  When it comes to colors you should use in clear water you should try something dark that the bass will see when coming up from below.  Some good colors are white, yellow and a mixture of the two.  In many cases black would also be a great choice.

So many people boast about how great spinner baits are in the shallow water but most fisher people dont even attempt them in deep water.  Once you practice a little and see how great they can be this will be one method you will want to use over and over for many years to come.

Another way that sometimes works with a spinner bait is to use it like a jig.  Once you find bottom with it just jig it up and down about half a foot.  This doesnt always work but when it does look out.

As long as you keep on fishing you will be catching a fish.  We all know that fishing is all about having fun.  It certainly doesnt hurt to have pointers on how to catch fish.
