Camping

 Milford State Park houses 7 modern campgrounds with electricity and water hook ups. Over 50 camp sites also include sewer hook ups. To camp in Milford State Park visit any one of the seven campgrounds. The park also has over 100 primitive campsites throughout the forest for the purest camping experience.

 Hickory Hollow Campground – 30 fully modernized sites with sewer hookups available.

Sunset Ridge Campground – 14 primitive sites available.

Woodland Hills Campground – 30 modern and 58 primitive sites available.

Cedar Point Campground – 40 modern and 7 primitive sites available.

Eagle Ridge Campground – 20 fully modernized sites with sewer hook ups available.

Walnut Grove Campground – 29 Primitive sites available.

Prairie View Campground – 20 modern sites available.

 Firewood can be purchased at every campground. Cedar Point, Walnut Grove, Woodland Hills and Prairie View Campgrounds also offer showering buildings to their campers.

 Daily vehicle park entrance fee is $3.70 in the off-season and $4.20 during Prime season.

Additional camping permits must be purchased for overnight stays.

 Fishing

 Fishing at Milford State Park is an angler’s dream. The Reservoir is the largest in the State and is home to a number of game fish including Channel, Blue and Flathead Catfish, Large and Smallmouth Bass, Green Sunfish, Crappie, Bluegill, Wiper, Spotted and White Bass and Walleye.

 Useful baits at Milford State Park include Shad, Tube Jigs, and Minnows and cut bait.

Walleye are abundant along the dam with Minnow and jig type baits after dark. All types of Catfish are abundant with cut bait throughout the Reservoir.

 Check Creel Limits and Minimum lengths at the information board at the park entrance.

Cost of fishing in Milford State Park is limited to the park’s entrance fee $4.20 during prime season. All anglers must have current fishing licenses. Guest licenses and out of State licenses can also be purchased. Licenses are sold in most retail stores that contain a sporting goods department.

 

Cabin Rentals in Milford State Park

 Milford State Park offers 6 modern ADA compliant cabins and 2 non-ADA compliant cabins for rent to overnight and weekend guests of the park.

 Reservation Rules

1. Milford State Park uses the complete weekend rule. If you reserve a cabin for a Friday or Saturday you must pay for the complete weekend Friday and Saturday. There is no refund for not using the cabin for the entire weekend.
2. Early reservations are charged a non-refundable reservation fee. Reservations made on the same day are charged a non-refundable transaction fee.
3. Weekly reservation rates are based on a 7 night stay. The eighth night will be charged at the standard reservation rate.
4. To receive a complete refund minus the transaction or reservation fee you must cancel your reservation at least 30 days before the date of the reservation. Canceling with 4 days or less notice will result in a forfeiture of all fees or in some circumstances a credit available for future use.
5. Reservations can be made online or by phone up to a year in advance. Online reservations must be made 3 days in advance during peak season and 5 days in advance during the off-season.
6. Full payment via credit card, cash, check, money order or Paypal is due at the time of reservation.
7. All damages to the cabin will be charged to the renter’s credit card or billed to their billing address if payment was made by cash or check.
8. No pets or smoking allowed in any of the cabins.
9. Check in after 2 p.m., check out by noon.

 

 Available Cabins

•   Mustang Cabin

 Modern cabin that’s ADA compliant. Cabin can sleep five to six with one full size bed, a futon, twin size bed and couch. Kitchen is fully stocked with a microwave, full size fridge, pots and pans and silverware and dishes to feed six. Cabin also features a bathroom with a shower and an outdoor grill and shelter.

•   Crabapple Cottage

 Modern ADA compliant cabin. This cabin sleeps five to six with a complete kitchen and one bathroom with a shower. One full size bed and futon in the bedroom and one twin bed and couch in the cabin’s main room. Grill and shelter sit right next to the cabin with picnic seating.

•   Morgan Cabin

 A gorgeous and modern ADA compliant cabin. Cabin has a complete kitchen with all the necessities to feed six. A full size fridge, microwave and coffee maker are also included. Cabin sleeps up to six with a full size bed, one twin size bed, a couch and a futon. There is a table, fire ring, grill and shelter just outside of the cabin.

•   Sumac Suite

 This cabin is just a year old, gorgeous inside and out with all the modern amenities. This cabin is ADA compliant. It features a complete kitchen with full size appliances and place settings and silverware for six. The bedroom features one full size bed and one futon. The main room of the cabin has one twin bed and one couch. The cabin can sleep five to six adults.

• Appaloosa Cabin

 This is a fully modern ADA compliant cabin with every expected amenity. The kitchen has a toaster, coffee maker, filters, pots and pans, silverware and dishes for six and a full size fridge and microwave. Bathroom has a stand up shower. Cabin can sleep up to six adults with a full size bed, futon, twin bed and couch. Kitchen also includes a full size table and chairs. Outdoor shelter is located next to the cabin and features a fire ring, grill and seating.

•  Red Cedar Resort

 This is a smaller ADA compliant modern cabin. It features a kitchenette with small fridge, microwave, cooktop stove and coffee maker. Table and chairs seat four. One full size bed sleeps two adults. Cabin is 5 years old and has a shelter and grill just outside.

•  Big Oak Bungalow

 This cabin will sleep four adults with a set of bunk beds and one futon. This site is not ADA compliant. Kitchenette has small appliances and place settings with silverware for four. Bathroom with shower and an outdoor grill and shelter will meet all of your basic needs.

•  Honey Locust Lodge

 This non-ADA compliant cabin features a bathroom with a shower and a kitchenette with small appliances. Dishes, silverware and a table that seats four s included. Cabin will sleep up to four adults with a set of bunk beds and a futon in the main room.

Hiking Trails in Milford State Park

Pipeline Trail - Open all year-long. It caters to hikers, horseback riders and mountain bikers. Pipeline is an excellent trail for beginners as it measures just a half mile.

Crystal Trail- Gives the visitor an enjoyable trek through the forest with just over two and a half miles of trail to follow. Crystal is open to hikers, mountain bikers and horseback riders.

Waterfall Pond Trail – Another short trail that is best suited to beginners or those looking for a short hike. Waterfall is open to hikers and mountain bikers only. It measures just over a half mile.

Eagle Ridge Trail – The longest trail in the park comes in at eight miles long. The trek is not recommended for beginners. Eagle Ridge Trail is open to hikers, mountain bikers and horseback riders.

 Additional Activities and Nearby Attractions

 Milford State Park offers a full service marina, yacht club, shower buildings and swimming beaches. Boats, kayaks and Jet Skis are all welcome at Milford State Park.  Nearby attractions include The Milford Fish Hatchery and the Milford Nature Center. Both facilities have several exhibits on display. Milford State park is truly on of the hidden gems of Kansas. The park is loaded with activities, attractions and breathtaking views.
