More Tips To Catch Crappie in Tunica Mississippi

Tunica Mississippi is well-known as one of the most exciting places to vacation in the US. It has something for everyone.

If you enjoy going to casinos you will be happy to know that Tunica is the third biggest casino resort in the US with several exciting locations for you to enjoy. Atlantic City and Las Vegas are the only resorts that are larger. Of course, this is just one side of Tunica. There is a much more laid back and relaxing side that many people take advantage of.

Tunica is also well-known for its great crappie fishing. With camp sites and RV parks located near the rivers and lakes with beautiful scenery to enjoy, it's the prefect place to have a nice relaxing family vacation.

The crappie fishing is always good but things seem to really get going around March and April in most of the lakes and rivers in this area. This is the normal spawning time and they are hungry and aggressive. Occasionally, you can reel in a larger than average crappie but the normal size in this area will weigh between one and two pounds.

Catching Crappie in Tunica

Crappies are an easy species to catch because they are a fairly small fish. Therefore, you don't need any special equipment or extra gear to reel them in. Catching crappies in Tunica is even easier than many other places because they are so plentiful in this area. There are lots of places to go where the crappie thrive and grow.

Crappie fishing is fun for the whole family because you don't have to be an expert to reel in this species. Using a light weight spinner rod and reel will usually prove to be very effective. They will put up enough of a struggle for it to be interesting but not so much that you have a hard time reeling them in. This makes catching crappie fun and exciting.

Crappies are similar to other species when it comes to lingering around structures. They can be found around wooden docks, sunken trees, logs, sandbars and they love submerged brush. Structures provide them with protection and a great place to ambush food. It also draws in the food source so they make the prefect environment for the crappie to grow and thrive.

When fishing for crappie the bait you use is important. They are a small species so make sure you don't try to use bait that is too large. Their favorite food islive minnows so you can never go wrong using this bait.

However, they will usually respond well to artificial baits that resemble their natural food source as well. Using monofilament test line weighting between four and eight pounds is recommended for catching crappie. Using a bobber will help you know when you are getting a bite and help to increase the amount of success you can enjoy.

You will normally have the best results when you cast beyond the strike zone and slowly reel your line in through the middle of the fish. This will entice them to take your bait. If you don't have ant bites at first, try twitching the end of the line to make the bait move up and down in the water.

This action will usually get their attention. Just be careful not to overdo it or that will scare them away. A little action is good because crappies tend to favor live bait and they will ignore it if it doesn't move.
