Ultralight Fishing, Tackle, Lures, Lines - Sport Fishing Without The Effort
When you have a (too) quiet day of fishing beside the pond, you might well decide to switch to ultralight fishing tackle, lures, lines and hooks if you at least want to catch a few bass! These are of course not intended for larger fish, but they are perfect for catching bass and many types of pan fish. The correct place to use them would be in smaller rivers and ponds.
Something that you might want to try out in a club tournament is finesse lures. Making use of this could very well give you the winning edge!
The description "ultralight fishing" implies anglers that make use of very light equipment, and it is primarily used in the catching of sport fish. Few people use them for catching large fish - this is not what they were created to do.
The type of rod used in this type of fishing is often quite small. Now small is a relative term, and the rods they use are quite often close to 2m in length. They are manufactured from material that is very tough, yet resilient and doesn't weigh much. They do what they were made to do extremely well and frequently have similar features to much larger rods.
As far as reels are concerned, the favorite one used by most anglers is the spinning wheel. Once again, small does not mean inferior. Many of these reels have features you don't even find in their bigger and more expensive counterparts!
Something else you should keep in mind is that your fishing line should match your rod and reel. It's no use spending all that money on the right rod or reel and buy the wrong line, since this will adversely affect your casting distance and also hamper you in other areas.
Hooks are the final ingredient of your perfect fishing recipe, and there as well you should make sure that they are of a type and size that is suitable for the kind of fish you will be catching.
Fishing lures
The correct type of lure would depend on the type of fish you will be catching. Below is a short summary of the most important types used by fishermen:
*Spinners and spoons. The classic choice. This involves some sort of spinning blade, which either spins on its own, or around a central shaft. This causes vibrations in the water and many fish simply find it irresistible.
*Small jigs. They are excellent for imitating crayfish and many other kinds of preying creatures. There are few better options for catching pan fish, since the whole sunfish family love this type of lure.
*Small stick baits and crank baits. These look like small bait fish, and predatory fish species like small mouth bass and many types of pan fish have a peculiar preference for this type of bait.
Choosing the most suitable ultralight fishing tackle, lures, lines and hooks is therefore highly important for the successful outcome of your fishing expedition, and you have to spend sufficient time on planning this.
