1. ALABAMA
• The Alabama Dept. of Conservation encourages residents to spend the day outdoors. Some specific activities they suggest are fishing at a state lake or state park, or participating in a dove shoot.
• “Outdoor Alabama” even wrote a Facebook note to spread the word: http://www.facebook.com/note.php?note_id=132961577556
2. ALASKA
• Because of the weather – September in Alaska is more like October elsewhere – NHFD goes largely unnoticed in America’s largest state. But individual support certainly exists. One prominent Alaskan blogger insists that the best decision you can make to commemorate the contributions of hunters and anglers everywhere is to take a child hunting or fishing.

3. ARIZONA
• Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s throughout the state will be saluting NHFD with events all weekend long, including a kids’ catch-and-release fishing challenge.
• Tucson’s Sportsman’s Warehouse has been offering tutorials through the week. Their grand finale will be an Expo on the 27th. Free food and booths with hunting and fishing gear!

• Central Arkansas Nature Center: In addition to booths and displays, a knife-making forge, laser shots, and casting events will all be on the premises for your enjoyment.
• Janet Huckabee Arkansas River Valley Nature Center: Activities for the whole family all day long.
5. CALIFORNIA
• California Waterfowl has two new camps to celebrate the occasion with the specific intention of getting women and children to hunt.
• At Lake Cuyamaca, participate in the Orville P. Ball Fishin’ in the Pines kids derby.
• In the spirit of philanthropy, the SCI San Francisco Bay Area chapter is coordinating a “Feed the Hungry Event” in honor of NHFD. At the Salvation Army’s Senior Nutrition Center in San Jose, more than 40 pounds of meat and fish will be served.
6. COLORADO
• The Rocky Mountain State’s Division of Wildlife is going to town on NHFD programming. At their Denver-based Northwest Regional center, informational seminars and unique shooting activities are going on all day long.
• For some of the seminars, you may have to pre-register. Find out at the D.O.W. Website: http://wildlife.state.co.us/Education/GetOutdoors/NationalHuntingandFish...
• All events are free, and include: archery range, safe shooting instruction, map and compass clinic, fishing techniques on the local pond, conservation representatives, hunting dog demonstrations.
7. CONNECTICUT
• First Shots seminar at Seymour Fish and Game Club in Oxford.
• Ludicrous sales and discounts at the Cabela’s in East Hartford.
8. DELAWARE
