The Breath Taking Experience of a Big Bass

Over all the years of guiding one of the questions I get is what is it really like to catch a 10 plus pound bass; can it really be explained! Well let me take my best shot at describing what most want to experience and very few have really accomplished.
I don抰 think that words can really describe this sensation, but here is my best shot. If you have ever been to the Grand Canyon, you will probably recall standing on top of the canyon looking over the edge and your heart pounds and you get goose bumps as you look down toward the bottom. You wonder how this could have ever been created it抯 just a sensation that grabs your breath away.
If you hang a trophy fish it is a similar feeling, the first thing you notice is this fish doesn抰 move and your hook set stopped you dead in your tracks. You start winding your reel and the fish appears to be leading you and you cannot turn its head toward you. Your heart starts pounding and realism sets in that this fish is really big. If you pull to hard the bass makes a run and comes out of the water and it just becomes a moment in life you can抰 explain. You look out at the explosion out of the water and the first things you notice are the bass eyes, they look to be as big as a half dollar piece of silver. Then the body of the fish looks to be 3 feet long and 2 hands wide, and it is one of those 搊h my God?moments.
By the time you get it to the boat, you look down and it appears you can put 2 or 3 fists in its mouth and then you realize this is a trophy. Your heart is pounding and you wonder how a bass can ever get this big. You bring it into the boat and your moment in life becomes reality and as you look at the bass you抮e beaming with pride, and a moment becomes a reality and a time in life you will never forget!
