Crappie Secrets - Only the Experts Know These

Like many of us, Joe Don is a crappie fisherman and has his own list of crappie secrets. He loves nothing more than spending a morning catching his limit of crappie. Then he takes them home, cooks them, and eats that flaky white fish. Joe Don knows some crappie secrets that everybody that wants to catch a mess should know.

Joe typically starts his crappie fishing in the winter months while the water is low. He goes out and scouts out hist favorite spots. He looks for brush piles and stands of dead timber. He looks for anything that can lead to crappie.

Joe usually starts his fishing trips on a Friday night by getting everything ready. He checks his boat and starts the engine. He makes sure his gas cans are full. He rigs up and checks all of his poles so that he doesn't waste time in the morning.

Saturday morning Joe rises early, before dawn, and heads out to his favorite spots. He launches his boat, checks the map, and head off to those places he scouted out earlier in the year.

When he gets to his favorite spot, Joe kills the motor and takes a look at the weather conditions. Depending on if it is overcast or sunny, he will pick different colors. As the sun comes up, he looks at the water. Same story, the color of the water will tell him what colors to pick.

Joe Don picks a color, hones a hook, rigs up and starts crappie fishing. No fish are biting yet. Joe Don checks to make sure he is in the right spot and he is. He decides to go with a different color. Wham, he gets hit by a big crappie. As the day changes, Joe Don probably switches color 20 times.

By noon, Joe has caught his limit of crappie fishing. He heads for home. Joe knows that dinner tonight is going to be a delicious plate of succulent, tender fried crappie. He know that tomorrow morning he will catch his limit again.
