Colorado is great for fishing as of now because of the favorable weather conditions. The temperature ranges from 30 to 40 degrees and chances of snow are minimal. It looks like a perfect time to do some late winter fishing. Though the temperatures may drop around the weekends, they will still remain in the upper 20's. Till now the fishing has been good and it seems like it's only going to get better. The Breckenridge fly fishing, which is one of the main attractions of the fishing in Colorado scene, is also in full flow. The lying fishier in season and this time of the year is the best for Breckenridge fly fishing.
There is a huge variety of fish available here as the season is for them to prosper. Fish like my sis Shrimp, Egg Patterns, and small dark head midges are examples of a few have brought loads of trout to the waters when the temperature touches 20's and over. Also, the ice near the banks and floating ice has significantly receded. In Colorado the sites like Par shall all the way till Williams Fork and down to Sunset access have been fishing very well in the past few days. Other Breckenridge fly fishing sites and lakes have also been fishing considerably well. The best time of the day to go fishing at this point of time would be the afternoon from 11am to 3 pm. A little cloudy weather is always welcome even for the Breckenridge fly fishing because some clouds are always favorable to them.
The Blue North of Silverstone and below the Green Mountain has both been open for a while now, but both are still under service. In this season the trout mostly hold in the winter cold water. They do this because the winter water is slower and deeper where they can expend less energy to outrun predators. The method of Egg Pattern fishing is also very popular these days and it is also a very effective procedure. Even the smaller steamers are able to take much more fish than one might estimate. At this time, of the year the metabolism of the trout slows down significantly so at first you might get poor numbers of half empty nets. Do not be disheartened and use files with less flash and also drop your tippet sizes. This is sure to do the trick for you.
