How do you tell if the bearing is bad near pedals on bike?

There are a few ways to tell if the bearing is bad near the pedals on your bike:

1. Listen for clicking or grinding noises when you pedal. This is one of the most common signs of a bad bearing.

2. Check for any play or looseness in the pedals. If you can wiggle the pedals sideways or up and down, this could be a sign of a worn bearing.

3. Try spinning the pedals with your hand. If they don't spin smoothly or if they feel rough or gritty, this could be a sign of a bad bearing.

4. Look for any visible damage to the bearings, such as cracks or pitting. If you see any damage, the bearing should be replaced.

If you suspect that the bearing is bad, it's best to take your bike to a professional for diagnosis and repair. Riding with a bad bearing can damage other parts of your bike and could even cause an accident.
