1. Check the manufacturer's recommended inflation pressure for your vehicle. This information can be found in your vehicle's owner's manual or on the sidewall of the tire.
2. Use a quality tire pressure gauge to measure the inflation pressure of your tires. Tire pressure gauges are available at most auto parts stores.
3. Remove the valve stem cap from the tire.
4. Press the tire pressure gauge onto the valve stem. Hold the gauge firmly in place until the reading stabilizes.
5. Compare the tire pressure reading to the recommended inflation pressure. If the tire pressure is too low, add air to the tire using a tire inflator or air compressor. If the tire pressure is too high, let some air out of the tire by pressing on the valve stem with a key or other small object.
6. Replace the valve stem cap.
7. Repeat steps 3-6 for each tire on your vehicle.
Here are some tips for properly inflating your tires:
* Use a slow and steady motion when adding or letting out air from the tire.
* Don't overinflate your tires. Overinflated tires can cause the tread to wear unevenly and can lead to a blowout.
* Don't underinflate your tires. Underinflated tires can cause the tire to lose traction and can lead to a flat tire.
* Check your tire pressure regularly, especially before long trips.
