Cycling News Of Pro12 2010 Florida Road Race Cycling Championship
Cycling News and Cycling Video of An Elite Cycling National Champion Winning The 2010 Pro12 Florida State Road Race Cycling Championship
Daniel Holt, after winning the 2010 Elite Men's Point Race Cycling Championship on the Track, came to Florida with a lot of power and speed in his legs to compete for the Age Group (19-35) and Pro12 Florida State Road Race Championship titles.
After competing in the Age Group race on Saturday, October 30 and not making it to the podium, Daniel Holt raced in the Pro12 race on Sunday with a strong will to win the race.
The 2010 Pro12 Florida State Road Race Championship was 15 laps around a 5-mile course for a total of 75 miles.
The road race started with many attacks and an early breakaway that lasted 4 laps. But after the hills, the wind and the many attacks started to weaken the cyclists, Daniel Holt found the opportunity to break away from the main peloton to join a breakaway that was already a minute ahead.
Once in the lead breakaway, Daniel Holt still had enough power and speed in his legs to launch a strong attack and go with Freddy Matute on a two-man breakaway in the final lap of the race.
In the final sprint between these two young and talented cyclists, Daniel Holt crossed the finish line a wheel ahead of Freddy Matute, winning the 2010 Florida Road Race State Championship title and leaving Freddy with the 2nd place.
Right behind these two leaders the remainder of the main breakaway sprinted for the last spot on the podium, where Daniel Chavez took the win for 3rd place in the road race, making it onto the podium both days with a 1st and 3rd place.
