Looking for directions on how to bunny hop on a BMX bike? The bunny hop is essentially a combination of a wheelie and an endo. You may notice that many BMX tricks incorporate the bunny hop.
-
Speed. The bunny hop is not a trick that requires much speed. If you are a beginner, you should begin the bunny hop on a BMX bike by moving at a very slow speed. As you begin to master the trick, you can increase your speed to a moderate level. The larger the object is that you want to bunny hop off of, the more speed you will need.
-
Jumping. Basically, a bunny hop requires you to get the front wheel of your BMX bike in the air first, followed by the back wheel. To get the front wheel of your BMX bike in the air for the bunny hop, lean back on your BMX bike and make sure that your arms and legs are straight. You will then need to pull the bike up with your arms. While your front wheel is off of the ground, align your feet in a vertical position. By pressing back against the pedals of your BMX bike and pushing your legs in an upward position, you will be able to get the back wheel of your BMX back into the air at the same time as the front wheel.
-
Landing. Now that the hard part is over with, it is time to land your bunny hop on a BMX bike. While you are in the air, it is very important that you try to get your bike into a level position. Doing this will make it much easier to land your bunny hop. As you begin to descend towards the ground, pull up on the handlebars of your BMX bike some so that your back wheel touches the ground first. Once your back wheel is down, you can bring your front wheel to the ground and you will have completed a bunny hop on a BMX bike.
Tips: The bunny hop is a trick of moderate difficulty. It will take a lot of practice before you perfect the trick. Begin practicing the bunny hop by jumping over small objects, like a log or piece of wood. As you gain experience, you can begin jumping over larger objects.
