Wow! Take a look at what we at Green Products found - a folding commuter bike from Montague called the SwissBike TX.
Now this is one of those great green products; Montague, the makers of the folding bike have a new one, the SwissBike TX, built with the commuter in mind. This is one nice looking and fine-riding bike.
The Montague SwissBike TX folds and unfolds in approximately 30 seconds. To carry it, put it in the Montague bag or store it in your car trunk. The thought is to drive to a public parking site, unfold the bike, and ride to work. As soon as you arrive at work, fold the bike up, bag it, and take it to your office or workspace.
Talk about design! (You are not going to believe this!) After the bike is folded up, it's only 36" x 28" x 12" and weighs 30 pounds. Like all Montague bikes, the SwissBike is designed to last. Nowadays you'd probably pay more for that 44" LCD TV in your living room than you would pay for the SwissBike. One of the nice things about living on the west coast is the weather. In California, they have incentives** in place that will reimburse you if you ride your bike to work.
No matter how you look at it, we all need exercise. This is a great way to get it, and in the process of trimming down you can reduce your carbon footprint. Studies have shown that if you exercise, you will live better, be fitter and have a happier outlook on life.
The accessories Montague provides on the SwissBike are what you would expect: 21 speeds, a Promax dual-pad front disc system, Bear Trap pedals, Shimano Derailleur, F.I.T. folding system, and the CLIX wheel release system.
The frame size on the SwissBike TX you select (18-inch and 20-inch) will determine your standover height of either 29 or 30 inches.
With the present state of the financial system, and the outlook for the global environment, traveling by bike just makes sense. Montague's Drive and Cycle commuting is successful in bridging the gap between the car and the bike, while affording people the flexibility to decide the method of transportation they require.
Green Products believes in promoting personal health, reducing gas usage, adding to a cleaner environment and reducing roadway congestion.
**Currently in the state of California a law requires certain employers who provide subsidized parking for their employees to offer a cash allowance in lieu of a parking space. This law is called the parking cash-out program (Assembly Bill 2109, Katz; Chapter 554, Statutes of 1992). It was enacted after studies showed cash allowances in lieu of parking encourage employees to find alternate means of commuting to work, such as public transit, carpooling, vanpooling, bicycling, or walking.
