Tour de Dead Sea no. 5 - Gal Friedman to lead the terrain cycling route
Israeli windsurfer and Olympic gold medalist Gal Friedman will lead bicycle riders of the Terrain Cycling route:
"It is important to supoprt the Dead Sea in the New 7 Wonders of nature campaign, especially in this non- competitive ride that's being held for cycling lovers and for lovers of the Dead Sea."
For the first time - riders will get to visit the original "Beit Haarava", the king Abdullah bridge and the epiphany ceremony location. Professional riders will enjoy two of the nicest routes in Israel: 65 kilometers road, or 45 kilometers terrain - from Dragot cliffs, over the Heetekim cliffs and down to Kalia beach.
Surrounded by heritage, nature and infinite beauty, where the Judea desert mountains slope to the lowest point on earth, the Dead Sea will host the 5th "Tour de Dead Sea" bike rally, with Bikers from Israel and abroad, who will all support the Dead Sea in the New7Wonders of nature campaign.
Over 1000 Bikers from Israel and abroad, professional and amateur, families and groups will ride the breathtaking scenery of the Dead Sea, and vote for the new7wonders campaign which will end in November 11 2011.
The Routes*:
* Challenging 45 Km. terrain route - from Dragot cliffs, over the Heetekim cliffs and down to Kalia beach.
* Challenging 65 Km. rode route - From Kalia beach to Dragot cliffs and back.
* New! Families route - 25 kilometers from Kalia beach, through the original "Beit Haarava" the king Abdullah bridge and the epiphany ceremony location.
* New! Young kids route - up to 5 kilometers on the family route.
Riding in all routes is secured.
A large camping ground will be available in Kalia and Neve Midbar beaches, family attractions will be available free of charge throughout the days, as well as voting kiosks for the Dead Sea as New 7 Wonder.
The Dead Sea is one of 28 finalists in the New 7 Wonders of Nature campaign, along with the Grand canyon, the Amazon, Galapagos, the Maldives, the Australian great barrier reef and more. The new 7 wonder foundation estimates that more than 1 billion people will vote.
The Dead Sea is represented in the campaign by the Israel Ministry of Tourism that supports and promotes it in Israel and around the world. An estimate of 300-400 thousand votes are needed in order for the Dead Sea to win the campaign and become one of the 7 new wonders of nature..
