Building Strength by Biking
When asked how to increase your cardio, fitness experts said, "You want to start doing three exercises: one, running; two, swimming; three, biking." However, it doesn't have to be in that order.
Biking is one of the best ways to create cardio tension, because you can ride for hours. The unique design of the bike specifically targets our body's naturally strongest muscle and uses it for the motor of the bike.
This requires heightened levels of exertion, but because it is our strongest muscle it is easy for us to maintain this for a long time. And that will effectively start making our heart working harder to get blood to our legs so we can continue to ride.
When demand more from our heart it starts to get accustomed to higher demands, making simpler, less strenuous things inconsequential to our heart. When we have stronger hearts we have increased performance in all physically demanding things.
If you want to go running you are going to use your heart to move the oxygenated blood from your lungs to your muscles, and if your heart is more adequately prepared to do that it will be much easier for you to run for greater distances. Marathon runners and ironmen have wonderful cardio that is what the bulk of their exercises are based around.
If you go to the gym you may see some gigantic beef-cakes but these guys that are only interested in body modification don't have very good cardio. They are intimidatingly strong--don't get me wrong-but they are not very cardio strong.
This is because they perform no aerobic exercises. Lifting weights is purely anaerobic, meaning that you do not breath while your perform the exercise.
Anaerobic exercise are good for building muscle fast, but when you pump your muscle hard without giving them an even flow of oxygen you or not increasing your hearts ability to work; you are only increasing those specific muscles.
Biking is the easiest and most effective cardio exercise. Biking to and from work every day will greatly improve your hearts ability to function.
I challenge you to try it and record your results. Cardio exercises are the best way to lose weight.
Keeping your heart rate elevated for long amounts of time is going to get your body burning calories, like a train burning coal. So if you have some extra flab on your stomach or your buttocks, bike riding could be your key to a fitter body.
Interestingly enough if you have fat arms riding a bike can help that too. When we burn calories our bodies just start taking the excess calories it can get; so it will build muscles in your legs, but will also strip fat from the rest of your body.
