Sinha's accident occurred in 2011, when she was travelling on a train. She was thrown from the train and crushed between two platforms, resulting in the amputation of her left leg below the knee. Despite this traumatic event, Sinha remained determined to achieve her dreams and began trekking again shortly after her recovery.
In 2013, Sinha set her sights on Mount Everest. She started out by climbing smaller mountains as practice and built up her strength and endurance. She also received special mountaineering training from the Indian Mountaineering Foundation.
With the support of her family and friends, Sinha achieved her dream in May 2013, when she reached the summit of Mount Everest. In doing so, she became the first Indian woman to climb the world's highest peak.
Within Reach: My Everest Story is a powerful and inspiring memoir that shows how determination and perseverance can help us overcome even the greatest challenges.
