Is white birch a good wood to burn in fireplace?

White birch burns hot and fast, providing a good burst of heat for a short period. It creates a nice flame and pleasant aroma, but it is known to pop and spit embers, which can be dangerous. Therefore, it is not recommended for use in an open fireplace unless the firewood has been seasoned for at least a year and is cut into smaller pieces.
