When does it start to get lighter in the evenings?

In the Northern Hemisphere, the evenings start getting lighter after the winter solstice, which occurs around December 21 or 22 each year. After this date, the days start getting longer, and the evenings start getting shorter. This is because the Earth's axis is tilted, and as it orbits the sun, different parts of the planet receive more or less direct sunlight at different times of the year.

The exact date when the evenings start getting lighter varies slightly from year to year and from location to location. In general, however, people start to notice the days getting longer in late December or early January. By the end of January, the evenings are usually noticeably lighter than they were in December.

The change in daylight hours is most noticeable at high latitudes, where the days can be very short in winter and very long in summer. At low latitudes, the days are more uniform in length throughout the year.
